"I guess I'm an underwater thing so I guess you can't take it
personally." I wish I were an underwater thing so I guess I wouldn't
take it personally. So I could be smothered in something light like
smoke but heavy like air and rich as sunlight lost in the depths of
this abyss. We marched like ducklings, like Pavlov's dogs, through the
halls, never counting our steps, never questioning their motives, until
the shrill metallic drum beat its whistle and we ran to get to our
places. We marched like terrestial creatures, tied to the pulsing earth
and it's one-two heartbeat when we could have floated through the
respiring jet streams or sunk into the circulating oceans.

"Do you see yourself in my gypsy garage sale ways?

In my fits of laughter?

In my tinkerbell tendencies?

In my lack of color coordination?"

Chad's show will be here: 12710 Littleton St., Silver Spring,Md 20906

Yay Mrs. Jones for wanting to provide a safe place for kids to have shows!

Today was really nice and I'm glad I got to see everyone today.

My sides STILL hurt from skanking.

Yeah, that was a lot of random test-taking... anyway...

So the school year is finally over and I moved out yesterday at 12 pm, only to come back to school 7 hours later to spend the night there (crashing in my friend Gigi's room).  We didn't really do anything crazy fun.  In fact, we did something crazy dorky, like walking to M street and reading at Barnes and Noble for a couple of hours while sipping coffee.  I can't believe Gigi, not only did she bring books to read, but also post-its to stick on the important pages.  She even brought siccisors to cut the post-its.  Crazy Georgetown kids.

Eventually they kicked us out so we walked back to campus and watched The Hours.  I must admit, they did a really good job of bringing Virginia Woolf out of the page.  Nicole Kidman's eyes were amazing.  They focused so intently that they glared.  And the transitions were awesome.  So when we finally finished the movie, Gigi and I stayed up talking about more dorky things, like modern fiction, Woolf, Faulker, T.S. Eliot, Freudian influences, stream of consciouss, all that good stuff (Oh man, Dr. Knoll, our English professor, would be so proud).  Eventually we just passed out from our oh-so-intellectually-engaging conversation.

I'll really, really, really, really, really miss Gigi next year <IMAGE HERE>.
And all the seniors <IMAGE HERE>.
See you at graduation.

I'm at work, and I'm bored... so time to take lotsa stupid surveys... hehehehe
(it's people like me who are responsible increasing our historical budget deficit haha)

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.
In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.
You'd like to your lover to think you are loyal and faithful... that you'll never change.
You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.
Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.
Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.
You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.
In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.

Your #1 Match: The Giver

You strive to maintain harmony in relationships, and usually succeed. Articulate and enthusiastic, you are good at making personal connections. Sometimes you idealize relationships too much - and end up being let down. You find the most energy and comfort in social situations ... where you shine. You would make a good writer, human resources director, or psychologist.

Your #2 Match: The Inspirer

You love being around people, and you are deeply committed to your friends. You are also unconventional, irreverant, and unimpressed by authority and rules. Incredibly perceptive, you can usually sense if someone has hidden motives. You use lots of colorful language and expressions. You're qutie the storyteller! You would make an excellent entrepreneur, politician, or journalist.

Your #3 Match: The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity. Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is. You are an excellent listener, with almost infinite patience. You have complex, deep feelings, and you take great care to express them. You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher.

Your #4 Match: The Idealist

You are creative with a great imagination, living in your own inner world. Open minded and accepting, you strive for harmony in your important relationships. It takes a long time for people to get to know you. You are hesitant to let people get close. But once you care for someone, you do everything you can to help them grow and develop. You would make an excellent writer, psychologist, or artist.

Your #5 Match: The Executive

You are a natural leader - with confidence and strength that inspires others. Driven to succeed, you are always looking for ways to gain, power, knowledge, and expertise. Sometimes you aren't the most considerate person, especially to those who are a bit slow. You are not easily intimidated - and you have a commanding, awe-inspiring presence. You would make a great CEO, entrepreneur, or consultant.

The more I think about my exams, the more overwhelming it seems. When I look at it on paper, the worries disappear. However, my concern about performing does not go away.

Never has GPA mattered so much to me as it does now, but I realize this after I have dug myself a hole in some of my classes. I'd be lucky with a 3.5 this semester but knowing I could have done better really burns in my heart. I keep blaming my professors for being bad at teaching or overly harsh, but I fail to blame myself for not studying more.

Previously I wrote an entry saying that I could never reach this 4.0 goal of mine because it rests 2 feet above my head. At 5'5, that's just out of my reach. Then Julie simply writes writes: "just jump feif." Touche. Next semester I'll have to start jumping.

My original plan was to graduate in 3 years. There were 3 main reasons for this decision:
1) I was on pace to do so.
2) I was on bad terms with my parents, and out of anger I vowed to leave my dependency on them as soon as I could. Foolish.
3) I thought it would make me special because I graduated in 3 years.

Now after a year of maturation (or lack thereof), I'm going to graduate in 4 years due to the following reasons:
1) I want to apply to Business honors.
2) I wised up and my relationship with my parents improved. After I took a step, they reciprocated and we are communicating as opposed to arguing like before. I still don't want to be a financial burden on them and thus my applying to be an RA. Regardless, my father also wants me to attend all four years because he knows that I will regret it later in life. Even though he went to school in Communist China as one of the brightest in the entire country and thus worked hard, he said it was the best four years of his life. He doesn't want me missing out. I guess we compromised here. (Shoot, I wish I went to QO, I probably would have gotten better grades and a better scholarship?)
3) I threw out the notion of being special and brought in the notion of being young and graduating with my friends.

Being young and fickle I think this will change and I'll come up with different reasons later on. As for now, eh... who cares, I'll just focus on my school work... or at least try to.

In about a week I will be flying to China and away from this country. Talk about change... I'm moving back home only on Friday. I guess its too late to brush up on my Chinese. I wonder what Chinese youth dress like today. I wonder how much I'll stand out when I'm there... Oh well, only one way to find out I guess.

Until then 6 exams, countless hours of studying, and wishing I was done will take up all my brain power.

Dad out of town + Evan at friend's house + thunderstorm - internet = movie night with Mom!

We watched Blade and Troy, so much blood. Good and bad don't even cover
either of these movies: I spent most of them laughing myself
sillier-than-usual over the badness. Mom came in half way through
Blade, and trying to explain what had happened so far proved, far
beyond reasonable doubt, that the film made no sense. And that fact
that Troy was "inspired by" the Illiad is all that need be said. Though
the leather skirts on everyone made it all a tiny bit better.

PLEASE help me find a job.

Another thing: Chad and I both talked about how we'd miss the MD-DC-NOVA area. No one else really has this; Julie and Cary go to school in Baltimore and NOVA, respectively, so they go to shows everywhere. Other people will miss more the indie rock scene, and not so much the local scene. Beth has been through with the local scene for a while. Jon and Hernan are still here. I don't even know. But it was nice to have someone to say these things to. He'll have the VA Beach locale where he knows everyone and I'll have all of San Francisco and Berkeley where I won't know anyone but he said that California would be good to me.

I don't even know. I want to enjoy the time that I have, but I have to get a fucking job, I have to pass my senior exams, finish stuff for Berkeley, graduate etc etc.

I wish I handled myself better when dealing with my parents. Something about them makes me so angry. How my mother started controlling my life this year due to how she thinks I'm incompetent about college. How she freaked out when I didn't apply to any school "higher" than Univ. of Penn. which meant I wasn't "challenging" myself enough. How over spring break, when 4 of my 6 acceptance letters came, she told me I should just consider these options, because it wasn't likely that the other schools would accept me. How when I was out with Rachel, she'd call me at around 9:45PM to tell me I should come home, even though she let me stay out till 11 with Alex. How all of my friends think I have a curfew because I always decide to go home early to avoid her accusations that I spend all my time "partying" and doing other unimportant things. How she tried to cut off my social life in its entirety in 11th grade, and succeeded in the first semester of 12th grade. Over the past few years, the things up to 9th grade have faded. My point is, I don't want to always have little things about my mother bothering me so that I'm perpetually resentful towards her.

I'm also not so happy with my father. How he never has his own opinion and always defers to my mother. How he was too afraid of me crying to talk to me about college stuff. How he's never done any parenting and left it to my mother.

But there have been a lot of  good things about both of them. At this point, I don't even know what to feel anymore.

My date went stunningly well. I discovered that I'm goofy and weird and indecisive and also, most people don't bring out my entertaining side. As a result, there are very few people I can really connect with.

"Drinking and Driving" by the Business is probably now one of my favorite punk songs because THE PIETASTERS PLAYED IT!!!!!

The Kiss. First, I met up with him under the plastic fan at Chinatown. We saw Xiyin (who said an enthusiastic hi to me, which was nice of her) and Maret Joe. Then we walked around Chinatown, looking for a place to eat that wasn't Chinese food. He kept apologizing for his indecisiveness and I suddenly took his hand. We settled on an Indian restaurant which was amazing, and he paid for it. Then, we went up the street in the direction of the Warehouse, and sat in front of the City Museum on a bench, and I asked him if I could kiss him. So we kissed briefly on the lips. We talked some more and then I kissed him again.

The Show. We met up with Julie, Cary, and Hernan eventually. The Stabones sounded like the Descendents, only about beer and Fuck Yous (they told Mrs. Jones FUCK YOU in the best possible way. Mrs. Jones replied, "Thank you."), the Ready Steady Go! were amazing, and I'm starting to recognize some of their songs. THERE WAS A SURPRISE APPEARANCE BY THE PIETASTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Jon missed it. Sigh. THE PIETASTERS! Then I had to miss the Debonairs, who sounded amazing from what little I saw of them. Shows will be my form of sex for a while--lots of movement, awesome, lots of heat. Cary took my belt at one point, and I took Chad's belt off of him.

The Non-Musical Aspect of Yesterday Night. After Stabones, Chad and I sat outside of the Warehouse, and I sat on his lap and asked him if I could be his girlfriend. He said yes. After RSG, we sat outside and talked, and Mrs. Jones recognized Chad (then again, he's probably one of the few, if not the only, big Asian guy in a band), and came over and introduced herself. From what I gather, there are tons of shows at her house, and a lot of bands are really good friends with her. She asked me if I was his girlfriend, and I said yes. At one point, we kissed during the Pietasters' set, and a shiver went down my torso, even though it was just on the lips. How crazy. He was so affectionate with me last night, and he told me that he generally isn't. He said he was comfortable with it and I hope that he'll kiss me first at times. He bit my shirt at one point.

Exams: 1 down, 1 to go.

Today's productive activities: laundry, taking down the democracy wall
(except the pictures of Jonathan, all of us in Seattle, and Dylan and I
from back in February before he was clean-shaven.) (which was a very
sad activity. The wall in front of my desk is blindingly empty now.),
knitting, distracting Dyl from studying for his fourth exam in a row.

Tomorrow: Chappaqua.

Jueli Li is a skanky little whore who can't say anything to anyone's face. (READ ON) or for that fact, even face confrontation. talking of selfish bitches... yeah, that'd be her. and on that subject, friends? thanks. yeah, thanks to you and your-i-wrote-this-essay-myself-to-get-into-UIUC. yeah. thanks for being a friend. write your own essays.
hope you die and rot (and possibly go to h*ll). cuz quiet frankly, you aren't a friend. go whore over "your" three boyz. and then talk to me about being a friend.
yeah. actually talk to me. that might help instead of posting shit on my xanga with your bitching. as for you? friend? where's the support at all? moral? emotional? uh... maybe you should go back to the basics and actually try being a friend.
here. i'll get you "how to be a friend for dummies." that might help. yeah, cuz "friends" don't make other friends feel excluded all the damn time.
oh but you wouldn't know that you little snob that lives in king farm. and come on. get over yourself. you really only do perpetuate that stereotype, what, with you constantly going on about j.crew that we can't afford. and an "only-70-bucks" swimsuit that has much less fabric than anything that people normally wear.
but wait. you act like i forgot that time the bus didn't come when school was out and you turned around and picked me up. yeah. whoops. i must have forgotten that. but trade-off. what 'bout those days before you had your license and it was you and me fucking around all over town... (okay, that didn't sound right) but we used to chill. and it was us. and then you got your license. and now it's always about boyz. "if you don't give a damn, i don't give a fuck." but even then, we had each other's asses covered. yeah. i'm going to the mall. don't forget that.
thanks love. enjoy whoring-out at college. have fun at prom ass-wipe.
oh. and i realize that while i'm typing this and i'm reading this it may sound like it i'm saying it's about me - like you have to spend time wid me or something. well... kinda. we don't do that anymore. you really are off all the time with Eric, or Dennis, or Yi-chen. but the point is we don't have fun anymore, at least not together... as friends. like we used to. remember how crazy we get and how stupid? like when we went to Bennigan's for Marcos' farewell dinner. goodness sakes. it was just a drink!!! (pina-colada, if you remember) it wasn't even alcoholic. but we laughed over what happened. i'm sorry, is this selfish? honestly, tell me is it ever you and me? there goes jueli and yihan, jueli and arlene... jueli, yihan and arlene. hmm... think about that. but how far back does this go?
i'd like to hear a response. call me. we'll TALK or if all else, you'll bitch me out and... you'll do all the talking. but whatever. nothing really gives anymore.

this makes me think though. i don't really take my friends for granted. i really don't. but we all have our moments (good and bad). and Arlene, <333 you babe. (and good luck on the rest of you exams *cough*spanish*cough*) but my friends keep me sane when all else fails. gosh Marcos, i miss you. miss our long talks about nothing and everything. and sadly enough, if they fail. Meryl keeps me sane. i'm going to miss you so much. you better keep in touch. PA<--->MD<--->FL. keep in touch.

while going over old receipts i've come to the realization that i spend a lot of money... on other people. i've bought a zillion bouquets of flowers for my mother to bring color to her office (and a smile on her face, love you momma) and countless gifts for friends. some things i don't even remember buying...

but then my trail of thought led me to see that my friends here do not provide monetary support for me when i need it at all. and on that note, any moral or emotional support. (except Meryl) so for the most part they're just kinda there. eh. c-ya guys.

Hey guys, two things:

1. Tomorrow: Foreign Film Club is presenting LES CHORISTES, after
school at 2:30pm in room 18. Willa and I baked
raspberry-jam-chocolate-chip cookies to lure people into coming.

2. Saturday: Environmental Club and Ms. Chau are sponsoring
(sponsoring?) a park clean-up. Great opportunity for SSL/CAS hours!
We'll meet at the Giant on Aspen Hill Road at 8:00am and the clean-up
will be from 8:30 to noon. The park we're cleaning up is the Matthew
Hanson State Park on the corner of Georgia Avenue and Hewitt Street in
Silver Spring.

Today was pretty fun. I took my last AP/IB (IB ES Paper 3) and then drove with Eric to Food Lion where we picked up some stuff for Foreign Film Club. Then, Eric and I went to my house where we looked through the book Kristy gave me for Christmas, and decided to bake "Strawberry Jam Tots" only modified. Here is how we modified it: We added chocolate chips in the batter, and used raspberry jam instead. So we baked those, and then scooped raspberry jam into the wells. They were tasty. They're ugly, but tasty. And sugary. Eric and I also ate some peanut butter fudge.

There's something very sweet about growing up middle class in Montgomery County. Even though it fucks a lot of people over for some mysterious reason, it gives you the luxury to dream. I am so idealistic and naive. Like today, when I was talking with Eric, for a moment, I seriously thought that I could start a vegan bakery where shit tasted just as good as the stuff made with animal products and donate some of the proceeds to good causes and maybe be even a little venue like the Maid where when you go to a show I'd give you something tasty. It's something to put in the back of my mind. So this summer, I'd like to learn how to make vegan desserts and eat a lot of them since my brother is suspicious of anything non-animal product and get round for college.

I don't know when my Yi Po is going back to China. I really want to learn to cook her recipes because I'll probably never see her again.

Why is it that you always love the wrong people? How you always love the person who never knew what to do with you and made you cry more often than not and I think it's because at least he made me feel something.
